Just got the 70-200 f/4L and took some pictures at softball today. I love this lens! C&C welcome - I'm a beginner with sports photography. Note, the last two were taken through a short chainlink fence; must bring step ladder next time!

No, I haven't tried it indoors yet. I'm concerned with it won't be fast enough without sunlight and no IS. I'll find out soon enough!

I loved that lens for outdoor shots, now indoor........thats another story. Its a wee bit too slow.

does it capture good shots even in the night sky under stadium lights?

I'll be trying it out at an evening game this week. I'm sure I'll have to bump the ISO up, though.

Nice, clear shots. You probably won't get good results with that lens in low light. I have one and find that it tends to hunt. You might also consider using a monopod to see if that helps. I bought a 200 f/2.8 L and a 1.4x teleconverter for low light field sports and have been pleased with the results. For indoor sports, I use the 50mm, the 85mm, and the 100mm primes.

Liza - thanks for the tip. A monopod sounds like a great idea.

Liked the shots... The expression on the faces is what i enjoy most....
The only problem the lens will have indoors will be it's speed... granted on the 20d you can crank the iso, but for moving objects in bad light it's not that good... i have the 2.8 version and still struggle in some gyms.. no correcting crappy lights...
happy shooting
