The 540 EZ Canon flash unit is designed to work with film as the flash is quenched by an exposure reading direct from the film when it has received sufficent light for a correct exposure.

The surface of the cmos sensor in a digital Canon is highly reflective compared to film and will give highly eroneous expoures if an EZ series flash is used in ttl modes on a digital camera.

The short answer is NO! You will need to purchase a 550 or 420EX series to work with your digi. Sorry! Erin.
