I just purchased Canon's S50 Digital camera. I've heard the battery life is horrible, so i did some googling and found this:
http://www.sterlingtek.com/capos50dicab.html
They claime that their LN63 battery can last 40% longer than the S50's stock battery. Is this true? Is this battery worth it's purcahse? The price is amazing! $12.99!
Am i looking at a fake and false advertisment? It sounds too good to be true!
If you own S50 or any other digital camera and is using this battery, your comment is much appriciated.
Thank You.

I have no experience with this battery or the original. But the numbers add up. The relevant rating MAH,. or MilliAmp Hours.
The Stock battery is 570 MAH
The new battery is 800 MAH
a 40% increae in MAH on the 570 battery would mean 798 MAH,. so 800 MAH is indeed just over that.
I would grab the batteries myself and giv it a try.
The Stock Canon 10D batts are 1100 MAH,.. so that 570 is pretty "weenie" I have found "other brand" batts that are up to 1350 MAH and they do indeed last longer than the Canon batts.
In the last year the amount of MAH that the industry is able to stuff into the same size cell has come close to doubling.
I would not be at all surprised if this battery is at least 30% better...

Do you think it's safe to use this battery? I know i will void warrantees if i go with this battery.
I also fear that this could be 'used' or been sitting very long in the storage.
But the price is unbeleiveable.

Really? It Voids the warranty?
I guess my 10D has been out of warranty since the day I bought it! (the "spare" Digipower batt I bought had more of a charge on it then the factory batt,. so it wa the first battery I used)
I have also purchased two 10D batteries for $9.95,
The Canon versions cost $70.00!!!!
These $10.00 batteries work just fine.
Yeah I'd go for it,. for $12.00 bucks what have you got to loose.
As far as warranty goes,. just make sure you install the Canon batt before you send it in to the service center!
//wonders if the Sigma lens and other brands flash and memory voids Canon warranty as well....... mumble

Thx alot! $12.00 for better battery compacity vs. Canon's $70.00 for low compacity! Do they really jack the price this much?!
Where do you get your 10D battery? Any online store?
Also, with this 800 MAH, how many photos do u think i can take before recharging?

Does anyone know if these 3rd party batteries can be charged in the original charger that came with the S50? Thanks.

Hmmm in light of this thread,..

I am a bit reluctant to continue recomending Eforce/E-bay batteries.
:(
All I can say is that my own personal expeirience has been very positive.

I've used Eforce to buy S45 batteries at $12. They work as good as the Canon brand without the jacked-up profit margins.
Sorry for the double post????
I do charge the non-canon NB-2L in the Canon charger. I've gone through 40 or more charging cycles without issue. Also, I can say the non-Canon batteries last a little longer than the Canon NB-2L that came with the camera.

thanks for input sstinman. I'm thinking with a price at $12, I may as well try it out.

Hi
I brought a spare battery for my S45 from Eurobatteries, boy was I ripped off. for almost 23 pound all I got was a battery that doesn't hold it's charge overnight, always has the low battery warning icon on the CCD and takes about 20 photos before dying
Tried charging, discharging, recharging etc. as I said I was ripped off, complained to the company- no reply
Wished I knew about the LN63, for 12 bucks it sounds to good to be true.

Arclite,
I know this post is a little late, but I have been using a Sterlingtek.com battery in my S45 since May, have taken over 4000 pictures and think the bettery is great. I use it in rotation with the stock Canon battery and it does seem to last longer.
