View Full Version : Damselfly Macro (with Canon 250D lens)

There's nothing like a beautiful blue-eyed damsel (a damselfly, that is). I used the Canon 250D macro lens for this. It doesn't get as close as a +10 macro lens, but I think it's a bit sharper.

I am impressed with your ability to get so close!
There seems to be certain times of day when they are more relaxed. At the wrong times they can be so "flighty"

what was the distance from the lens to the damselfly?

Thanks, CDS. Also, you have to approach them very slowly, so you don't scare them off.

Between 1 and 2 inches. I was zoomed all the way in, with manual focus set as close as it would go.

Nice shot. I know how hard these are to take. Have you tried the 250D with the lens zoomed out to moderate or maximum distance? I find this sometimes works well. This shot was not taken with the 250D, but I plan to return to the spider's lair soon and shoot her and her brood again.
