I purchased a D30 about 10 days ago (Canoga Camera, great service). I have sent it the card for the microdrive, drooled over new L lenses, etc. I have Photoshop 6. My wife bought an epson 780 ( I will probably use dotphoto for 99% of the pictures). I keep reading stuff about plug ins for Photoshop and some stand alone programs for image editing. My question is what software should I get (Breezebrowser to photoshop6 for editing, etc)? Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Mike,
Welcome to the club! :)
Software
Get BreezeBrowser from www.breezesys.com. Pay the USD35 fee, you won't regret it. Also grab the free Downloader from the same place. Works nicely with the camera or CF reader.
If you search the forum for "workflow", you'll find discussion about methods and procedures.
Take at look at this thread for using linear TIFF and Photoshop:

Download Pekka's action - it's superb!
Take a trip to www.fredmiranda.com and check out his PS actions and profiles. You should certainly get the ICC profiles.
Since you have Photoshop 6 (you have got 6.01 updates, haven't you?), then don't worry about other standalone editors. You've got the best already! There are loads of PS plug-ins for so many different things, it's hard to give general advice. I have quite a few myself, but nothing that I would say is a drop-dead must have.
I have some other stuff about recommended sites and software on my own web site at:

I have purchased Fred Miranda's D30 Linear Pro Photoshop action that requires no user input at all, it just gives you the final image, either print or web. It is a great way of processing LOADS (hundreds) of files so you can decide later which ones need Pekka's more advanced "user interface" action or one of your own choosing. I see this as a very good action with which to start until you get more comfortable with Photoshop v.6.
So far I find myself accepting all of the presets in Pekka's action because when I touch them the sky falls in! The net result for both actions seems to be the same to my inexperienced eye so I have leaned toward simple and purchased the D30 Linear Pro. Balancing what I paid for the D30+Lenses what is a little more software?
As a footnote, if you are really broke after the D30 plunge, Pekka's action is pro level and it is free! My only caution would be don't ever erase those raw files, you may change your mind later as technology moves forward and both Fred and Pekka are cutting edge kind of guys.
