I've just remembered my most recently arrived lens i.e. the 70-200 f/4L USM has never been baptised with a duck&twig shot. Well, this will repair that ovesight.
Incidentally, the duck's name is Von Ribbentrop.

Well, I just wanted to humour Cyber and give him no reason to make any more of those little sarcastic snide comments that you and I do not have the energy to get out of our offices to shoot those obligatory lens baptism photos.
Thanx for asking, the family is fine. So is unfortunately my son in law.

Maureen......the question is how to pry Dante away from the People Forum ?
Calicokat: Wouldn't you if you had a name like that ?
BTW, I like your signature.

When I saw your name Pet-Kal and it was in the BIRD forum, I had to ask myself, "What could he have posted?" Looks like you took the shot during sunset, not noon. Love the red beak. :)

Thanx Suzie, very observant, the shot took advantage of the very last few sunrays that day.:)

Great shot, Peter. But how did you get so close? I can never seem to approach these guys when they're not in water.
Oh, wait. I didn't notice the cord around it's neck...

Brilliantly observed, Ron, worthy of your stellar bird ID record !
My Image Stabilization techniques are brutaly honest....no deception there.
By contrast, some of my other fellow Canucks are known to have emplyed some really insiduous bird IS techniques such as velcro/birdmans glue (aka "Dancad IS") or Gravol impregnated birdfeed (aka "Sarnia Method").

Just out of curiosity, how did it get up there with wheels and a rope. A pully system?

A very nice baptism of your new lens. Appears clear and well composed. There is a hot spot on the duck's breast and cheek. You might want to clone out the foreign object on the duck's head, it does detract from the image.

Thanx Dennis. I do not seem capable of shooting wildlife without those ubiquitous "hot spots".:( Even the shot of my pet fish Goering shows the same marring effect.

We are all waiting for Goebbels and Himmler now, we know that you don't have Martin Bormann as he is still missing.

:D Say no more, I have enough strong rope as needed to ensure that no evil can come even from their beastly reincarnations.
