View Full Version : Do I need a release for this?

I'm sure the answer is probably yes, if so, then how extensive?

Senario:

I want to record (video) some kids/teens BMXing on a new course that was just built (with jumps and planks and all that goodness). Then I would like to edit it and put it to some music and perhaps make some DVD's to sell (if these guys are interested in some video of themselves and friends).

So what do you think, release or no release, and how should I go about getting EVERYONE to sign that I record, also whats the age that they should have a parent sign?

Sorry for all the questions but I don't want to get sued over this if it works out.
Thanks!
Crystal

Play it safe - get a release from everyone and their parents.

You'll also be neck-deep in copyright issues if you put music on it, unless it's a public domain composition that you performed and recorded yourself.

There are LOTS of royalty free music sites that you can download music on. Some cost as much as $20 per song, but at least you are covered if you sell.. Do a search... A couple that I can think of on top of my head are www.ghostnotes.com and musicbakery.com
