Canon Just released two new digital cameras. The Powershot A80 here: http://www.powershot.com/powershot2/a80/index.html and An EOS Digital rebel here: http://www.canoneos.com/digitalrebel/index.html Here is a press release: Canon on Wednesday added two new digital cameras to its lineup. The 6.3-megapixel EOS Digital Rebel is an autofocus digital SLR model that "combines the quality, affordability and ease of use the Rebel is renowned for with the immediacy, vitality and economy that digital delivers." It sports a "sleek and stylish" high-grade titanium gray metallic finish and will be offered in two kit configurations: with (US$999) or without ($899) an EF 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom lens. Initial shipments of each kit will begin in mid-September. Also announced was the compact 4-megapixel PowerShot A80 ($499), which "combines brilliant image quality, crisp Canon optics, and advanced features including a 3x optical zoom and a Vari-Angle LCD display in an affordable and easy-to-use package." The A80 will be delivered to authorized dealers in October.

Noticed that under the product dropdown, the A80 is listed under "point and shoot digital cameras" while the G3/G5 & S45 & S50 are under "high end digital cameras. I suppose that reflects the feature set ie. manual settings, more than anything else.
