Has anyone tried the plastic pop up Delkin eyepiece and LCD hood on their cameras? I was just wondering how useful are they. I know on my 5D shooting outside on sunny days the LCD screen is useless. Will this help at all?

I saw a person using a device similar to this at an event that I was at and asked him what he thought. It made a very moderate improvement in being able to see the lcd and if he had to do it over again he wouldn't.
I agree that trying to see the lcd on a sunny day is tough. All I am really interested in is the histogram and you can see this just about all the time.

My hand works as good as anything on the market. Not to mention that it's free, always available and nearly impossible to misplace. ;)

that or use a lens hood or a paper towel roll cut down to size.

I found in my junk box an old 8X loupe used for examining negatives or slides - a transperent plastic cone with a magnifying glass on top. I wrapped black duct tape around it to keep out the light and tossed it in my bag. Now I just set it on the LCD and squint through it; works a treat. Makes that tiny XT histogram easier to see, also.

I purchased one for my old 20D. It does improve the viewing quality outdoors, however it quickly became a pain to open and shut the door constantly between shots as you can't see through the viewfinder with the door open. Great idea in theory, horrible in practice. A hand or standing in the shadow of a tree work just as well IMHO.

Ditto on the above. Bought one, tried it, came to the same conclusion, tossed it...
