I have a small 1.2 MP camera that im wanting to replace. I have done some researching and have decided on either the G2 or the S45. At BeachCamera they are the same price. From the reviews i've seen, it looks as if the G2 is a lot more popular, because there is alot more about it. But I dont know if there are more features on the G2 that would be worth the increase in size. I want something small, but i would get the G2 if it is worth it. I live in a small town, so it isn't too easy to try them out.
Which do you suggest i get?

Sorry if this is a common topic, i searched this forum, but didn't find anything that answered my question.

My vote is for the S45. I choose it over the S400 so I didn't directly compare it to the G2.

As I understand it the G2 has a few more advanced features. Also, the G2 has adapters than can be added to the lens to get wide or telephoto increases. An external flash can be added. The lens is slightly better. The LCD viewing panel can be extended and rotated.

If I where you I would buy from a place where you can return the camera if you don't like it.

Please take in consideration the G2 is an older model (the current model is the G3) and the S45 is a current model, so probably the G2 low price is because a stock clearance. Also the S45 use the new DIGIC processor, and the G2 uses an older processor. There is a lot of discusion of wich one has a better image quality, but my S50 (the 5MP S45) has a very good image and I'm very pleased with it.
