All,
I am keen to post some of my work onto the site, in order to get constructive criticism.
What's the best way of compressing/resizing photo's in Photoshop CS so that it meets the sites requirements of 100k files sizes etc?
Thanks in advance

The way I resize photos is using Photoshop CS. If you Save for Web, you can adjust the size and set the longest side to 800 pixels. Then using the Quality slider, you can adjust the quality down until it is below the 100kb file size. (The file size is shown under the photo.)
I know Windows XP has a power tool to resize images, but I found that I got better results using the Save for Web option in CS.
Hope that answers your question! I look forward to seeing some of your photos.

One caveat with Save For Web: If you want any of the image metadata (EXIF, IPTC) to be retained in the final file, don't use it. Just resize the image yourself & do a regular Save As.

To retain EXIF I use Image Ready when I am finished with my pic in CS2. It is very easy to work with. See this thread regarding how to do it.
