Just got my new lens yesterday and so far pics look great. Can I put a filter on the lens and still use the lens shade?

Yes,. are you using it on a 10D or D60?

If so you should no the lens shade is woefully inadaquate. I purchased a completely different lens hood and altered it slightly,
