Greetings all,
Just received a Powershot G1 as a gift. Camera came with the bundle software, cables, a battery, remote, manuals, etc. The camera is working fine but I have a question.
What do you think are the most important extras to get? I see people writing about the LensMate conversion adapter. Or do I need a bigger (than 16mb) flash card. Or something else? Ideas?
Thanks, and love it so far!!

Hello Ben,
Welcome to the wonferful world of digital photography. It will be so much fun you will become an addict.:)
My opinion on the accessories that you would need in order of importance are--- (can you hear the drum roll)
256mb Flash Card, or 2 128mb
lightweight tripod
Lensmate adapter
flash card reader
420ex external flash
The following would be a partial list of other things that would be handy, depending on what type of shots you like to take.
neoprene strap
filters
extra battery and external charger
camera bag
This a partial list and is subject to a lot of debate on which is most important. The decision is really up to how you use your camera and what fits your style. Whatever you choose, please share with us some of your favorite shots.

Yes, pretty much I am thinking:
Lensmate
UV Filter
128MB card (or 2)
I am so excited, though I have been back at work now and have to be inside all day long at a desk. This weekend though I hope to shoot a bunch!!

I don't know what the cost difference is, but you might want to look at the IBM 1GB Microdrive for storage. I recently bought my third one for US$300.

Is or has anything within peoples findings that the use of a flash unit like the Digi-Slave Deluxe 3000 over the Canon 420ex be a good or bad idea. I want to get two equal powered flashes mounted on stands for copy (even light) and study work, both of which I could trigger with the G1. Is there solutions out there that work with the G1. Buying two 420ex and finding a way to trigger both on stands I assume would cost a bundle. Thanks for any help :)

In the mail now..
256MB CF Card (only 5 RAW images or 8 Large Superfines on the supplied 16mb CARD)
Lensmate Adapter
UV Filter
+1,+2,+4 Macro Set
Have:
Tripod

Also, how do you folks post images? I have seen Pekka's and a few other galleries but are these hosted by your ISPs or a web based service like pbase or fotoki (sp?)

I use www.fototime.com as it seems to be much more reliable than the free type sites, which seem to be down a lot, or move really slowly sometimes. It is $24/yr for 250mb space, which is affordable as long as you don't store lots of full size images there. It has a really nice front end for downloading images.
To embed images on this site go to the help at the top of the page and go to the first line of the UBBC codes, where there is an example.
