Hi all,
this is my first posting in the critique corner. Thought i´d share this photo with you and ask about your opinion.
I took the photo a few days ago in the morning at 08:32 AM. The air was very humid and as you can see in the valley (right hand side of the pic) there was heavy fog. My camera is a G5

I like this shot, but the boats and dock are a tad distracting. Perhaps they could be removed with a graphics program.
Tranquility... Just need a cup of coffee, and these scene would be a great way to see the morning emerge.

i really like this pic.
The boats IMHO both add and subtract from the pic.
The add because of the simple daily life of the lake, and the Sail poles tend to stand out.
I can also see how these same boats detract from an otherwise tranquil scene. They seem to be competting with the mountain for dominance of the scene. Crop the boats out maybe??
To me you have captured the peacefulness and serenity of the lake. Also the soft lighting really helps out
nice!!!

Personally I like the boats, and would crop the photo a little off the top left to make them a little MORE prominent in the picture. Each to his own I guess. Either way it's a nice shot.

I like the boats as well, but then I like boating. Nice shot.

I'm kind of torn about the boats being in the photo, but overall a really nice image.

I would leave the boats in, but clone out the branches below the boats. I would also crop away from the left so that you end up with a great square picture.

Awesome scene. There are things you can do here but in my opinion reshoot this. The scenery you have captured has way more potential for a great looking photo. Try and gets this again when not so humid. a cooler morning might be clearer. I would really like to see more detail in the mountains. I'm sure you'd also get some colour from a sunrise too.
As far as this particular photo goes, what really distracts me are the trees on the left. Hopefully if you were to reshoot this they could be avoided more.
The boats are ok but if you wanted to remove them I'd be more compelled to crop them out to take the mountains from the center of the photo.
Hope that wasn't too harsh. :D

Thanks Colin for your kind advice. Yes i should give it one more try on another morning. We should have nice and clear autumn sky soon!
I´ve added another photo of mine (also taken with the G5) to give you a idea how the mountain looks like when seen more in the clear.

I took that pic on another day in the afternoon. People were enjoying watersports such as windsurfing on the lake.
Hope that you and other viewers like it :)
Kind Regards
