View Full Version : Powershot A75 problem - is there an official forum??

Recently my A75 went haywire; nothing would show up on the viewfinder except a kind of shifting purple blob. This is the same thing that would be captured if I tried to take a picture -- just purple fuzz, no picture. Turning the camera off and on didn't help. I can upload a sample if anyone's interested, but I just realized my batteries are dead so it'll have to be later.

Has anyone seen this? Does it cost less to fix than to simply replace? Is there an official Canon forum I should be visiting with problems like this? Thanks!

don't know where you are located, but when I had a somewhat similar problem with my S2 last summer, I just called the Canon consumer number - after a discussion, they said I'd have to send my camera in for work. It was still under warranty, thank goodness, and they had it back to me after two weeks, with a new optical center. Whatever that might be.

WE had the same problem with our A75. Canon says its their fault (but have yet to do recall) and will fix it free of charge; I sent camera to Canon Canada in Mississauga and they sent it back within three weeks.

Good luck, Lorne

My A70 was fixed at a local dealer, all costs paid by Canon. First emailed Canon describing the problem, they requested I take it to the service centre, service centre fixed it, and Canon paid the bill.
