I just bought a PowerShot A 70 last week. Untill today the picture quality has been excellent. But today a thin black line appeard on the image as you can see below.
It looks just like if you had a hair on the lens but there is nothing of the kind. The thin line is visible thru the LCD-display also.
Any suggestions?

I had to look hard, but I think I see it running through the sky and into the cloud?
If you're seeing it on the LCD, then it's got to be on the lens. A scratch maybe?

After some more testing I found out that the black line only occurs when having the aperture value 5.6 or above, for example in the Av-mode or landscape mode.
Maybe a software problem?

Very strange as it's smaller than a pixel in width! I've never seen anything like it - I haven't a clue. I can't imaging how you ever noticed it - I'll take a look back at some of my own shots with lots of sky in!
Turns out I was looking at a fault on my monitor! I take it you mean the streak running top leftish to bottom centre?

I was in mail-contact with canon support today and they said it was a hardware problem. I did not realise that there was any mechanical apperture in a digital camera :-) Anyway I will get it to a servicecenter as son as possible, so hopefully that will do
