Maybe that's why their nests are so darn messy!

Nice shots.

Great behaviour shots here! That's a feamale - she's has a "necklace".

I would have thought so too, but after observing them in several "intimate" encounters, I'd swear that the male is the one doing all the running to and fro with branches and stuff, while the female stays nearby, looking bored with the whole thing. Maybe I blinked at a crucial moment?

This bird, whichever sex it is, spent most of the hour I watched them tamping branches into the nest, and then plucking his/her breast feathers out to soften the whole thing.
I saw them fend off a possible Bald Eagle attack the other night. It's been great having them so close, but....
The pair have built their nest on the Country Club dock, right on the rear piling of Slip #2. Right now, there isn't much going on there, but in a few weeks, it's going to get very active. It doesn't bode well for a successful breeding season for these guys.

Nice work Nancy! Love the flying in shot.
Are these with the XT? And how did you get eye-level with the nest? All the ones around here are of the 'look way up there' variety.

Thanks! And yes, it was with the XT, which finally seems to be gelling.
I wasn't eye-level, but close to it. As I've said - the silly birds have built their nest on a piling for a boat slip. The car park is very close to it. I've been trying to spot a "close" osprey for years - this is finally it - but they will probably give up, due to the hustle and bustle of the boating season, which is just around the corner.

Great captures Nancy, osprey are federally protected and the feds could come in and shut down that part of the dock if the bird has begun nesting.
