CANON IXUS 500: Breaking the 30sec of video limit?

Hi

I have an IXUS 500 and a 2GB flash card and I would be really glad if I could record more then 30sec of video with 680x480. I’m not sure why there is a limit but is there a way to remove it?

How hot does the camera get when you shoot 30 seconds?
It's likely limited to that time to protect the circuitry/sensor from thermal damage. (educated guess)
So I think it would be a bad idea to try removing the limit (assuming there was a way through firmware)
