I did a search for this, but couldn't find my answer after looking for over 10 minutes through many threads.

I want a different lens cap for my S2 IS. The factory cap always falls off. So can anyone provide a link to a more secure lens cap?
What size is the lens cap?

Thanks...much appreciated.

I know others have complained about the lens cap dropping off, but in truth I haven't had a problem with mine... maybe just lucky? Try putting a small piece of a good-quality adhesive tape or cloth tape (not crappy duct tape) inside the rim of the cap. It shouldn't take much to take up any slop in the fit. I'm not sure there's a better answer unless you want to keep an adaptor on the camera all the time and use a screw-in cap.

If you want to go that route, check here (http://www.lensmateonline.com/newsite/S2.html) for a very reliable source. If you go to their "order" page you'll even see a $5 clip-in lens cap for the adaptors.

Hi, I'm new to the forum, but wanted to answer your question. I found that if I left part of the string from the lens cap between the lens and the cover then it wouldn't fall off. I did end up getting an adapter and a UV lens along with a new lens cap though. Mostly just to protect my lens. HTH!!! BTW, I got my adapter and such from Lensmate. I went with the 52mm size as that was what Lensmate recommended.

Hi, Cindi... welcome to the forum. Thanks for the cap-keeper lanyard suggestion -- that's a clever no-cost solution.

I just want to add, however you decide to secure the cap, tape or lanyard, you don't want to get it too tight as it could strip the gears that drive the lens in and out. The cap is designed to fall off easily for this reason.

(I keep an adapter and lens w/cap on mine at all times)

I'll have to try using a bit of the lens strap. I just want it to be a LITTLE more snug that it currently is.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Here's a thread from another forum about the lens cap problem...

I ordered a couple things from Lensmate to fix my problem. The problem was real frequent when putting my camera away into my waterproof case. The cap was falling off every few minutes.

I ordered:
Lensmate 52mm adapter
52mm lens cap
52mm UV filter
52mm polarizer filter

Problem solved. :)

I also ordered the same set of items from Lensmate and have kept the adapter on permanently as recommended. This solved the lens protection problem for me, but then I had to figure out how to manage/carry the camera in its different configuration.

I found that this Lowepro bag (link below) is a perfect fit for the camera with the adapter attached.

Sorry about the link...here it is again:

If the link doesn't work, it's the Lowepro Rezo TLZ10 bag. It is fairly small and there's no room for anything else but the camera with its adapter and an extra filter or two, but I have found it to be very versatile. I rigged it up so that I could carry it around my waist when hiking or biking to provide the quickest possible access to the camera.

will the bag hold the S2 with the lensmate adapter and a Tele or Wide angle converter lens??

sonnyj, I can't answer this for sure as I don't yet have a converter lens, but I would tend to doubt it if the lens adds any bulk at all. It fits very snugly with the camera body and the adapter with a filter.

I solved this slippery issue with a strip of velcro-- now the cap is nice and snug, but you don't want to turn the camera on with the cap on--probably why is was designed loosely in the first place--however I don't have a problem remebering to do so.

The soft side of the velcro--not the hooks
