Has anyone here ever used a slide/film scanner. I am wondering what the quality of the images are and what the maximum sizes you can produce from what DPI's. For example, the biggest image that you can get, with no distortion, with 3600 DPI i x by x inches or x by x pixels. Any help would be appreciated greatly!!!
Thanks,

Hello.
I have here in my workplace a Nikon Coolscan III. I've used it in here and also carried to my home to do some archiving.
Scan quality is very good for my purposes, although you have to be extra careful with slide mount glass cleanliness.
It has an optical resolution of 2700 dpi, 8-bit color.

When you say be very careful about slide mount glass cleanliness what do you mean? Also, how big of an image can you get with the scanner and is it a "crystal clear" image at that size?
Thanks again,

I use a Minolta Scan Dual II. It's serving me quite well. I usually set my input resolution to as high as I can set it - 2820 dpi.
Check out http://www.scantips.com for some good tips on setting dpi.
