The use of profiles

Hello everyone.

I thrive on stupid questions: does our everyday digital camera (my Ixus, for instance) make use of ICC profiles?

How, generally, is color consistency from digital image to photo outlet color print achieved?

Is there in my color image data somewhere a footer or similar telling it emerges from a Digital Ixus and so on -- or does my printer use a default profile (if any)?
