Hi everybody,
Let me share my deep disappointment in D30.
It so happened that in the course of buying D30 I had an opportunity to deal with two bodies. One was sent to me as used by mistake, and the other one I just got as a replacement.
Well, both of them have problems. And since I have to return one and keep the other, here is the dilemma.
Body 1:
- Used: previous owner returned it to the store because of some dust on the CCD [I wish I had his problems :)]
- Has one dead pixel
Body 2:
- Arrived as brand new
- Suffers from consistent flash underexposure by 2/3-1 stop.
I made a dozen of shots of different subjects using both bodies. The final test that convinced me of the flash underexposure was the shot of my sofa :). I made two shots (with flash and w/o it) using two bodies, and looked at the histograms. In the old body both histograms are virtually indistinguishable. In the new body the histogram of the shot with flash is shifted by about 3/4 of the bar to the left (there are 5 vertical bars in the histogram display on the body).
Honestly, neither of the bodies is unusable. One dead pixel is not a big deal, and one can always compensate for flash underexposure.
Still, can anybody comment on the flash issue? Are my speculations valid?
