Hello Desi!
All I did was add a catchlight by using a white paint brush and lowering the opacity to around 50% and did a USM on her eyes. To select her eyes I used the lasso tool. Thanks! Hope this helps.

looking again the catchlight might be too bright..this was just a quick version in Photoshop....you could lower the opacity to your liking. Thanks!

All I did was USM 100% , Radius 1.0. Then I used the sharpen tool with a medium hard brush set at 50% and just went over the eyes. Since this is less than 100K it's hard to make much of an improvement but could do much better with the original file.

What a gorgeous daughter you have! I did a quick play with the speia tone one. I boosted contrast, bumped up curves, dodged the whites of the eyes, and ran a little USM. You could avoid the blow outs when you boost contrast by duping the layer and erasing back in the parts of the jacket and hat that lose detail. I did a different crop to draw more attention to that beautiful little face. :)

One more time with a little extra sharpening.

In my opinion, you are not going to get that sparkle without a little more light first, esp in the first photo. Try a little fill flash and then you can do some Photoshop sharpening etc.
And she is a beautiful child with great eyes. Keep trying.

From looking at your photos it seems like you used a little blur in them. You can bring back th eyes if you blur it in a new copy and then use vector mask to bring back the eyes. Use a new copy below the blur copy and above the original copy for USM.

Great edit, Kevin. It really makes her eyes a focal point.

Im into the eraser tool rilght now...
I've been duplicating the layer, sharpening the bottom layer adding guassian blur to the top layer (just enough to soften skin tones) and then erasing on the top layer. I erase the eyes, eyebrows, lips and many strands of hair, and anything else that I want to be sharp. I like this technique because it's easy and it makes the skin look so pretty.
