I am trying to decide for this lens. I would like to know if you can get good blur background using it. Please if you have a sample to share, let me know.

Thanks,

I just created my free cheesy web site with a couple of pics. They are bit big, but I am in the process of publishing them with a lower quality. But anyway, these were my first pics taken with my new 10D and my 70-200 f/4

I was looking at this lens today - went into Dixons (UK) with my 10D and 28-135 lens.

I found the extra 65mm zoom on the 70-200 was barely noticeable when compared with my 28-135 and I could certainly not justify the cost for the lens.

I am now looking for a longer zoom (perhaps 300mm) but have yet to work out which lens is best.

Take a look at the Sigma 50-500. Until I viewed some pictures taken with this lens last night, I had written it off for two reasons: 1. it is a Sigma; 2. a 10x zoom can't be that good can it? Well, yes it can. I have been stunned by the images from this lens. Check out the 50-500 gallery here:

After viewing this and a few other galleries made with this lens, I have decided that it will be my next lens purchase.

All are very interesting pictures.

Does any has an idea of the weight of each of these lenses (70-200 F4L & 50-500 Sigma)

Thanks,

Check their web sites, they list the specs of their lenses.

The 50-500mm is a beast,. very heavy,., but really not too heavy for 500mm. (I mean what do you expect?)

The 70-200mm f/4 is the lightest of the 70-200mms out there. But these are totally different lenses.

I have the Sigma 50-500mm and use it extensively. Pics in my gallery,. and slightly on topic,. I also use the Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8! It is a fine lens and there are examples of it in my gallery as well. (the fashion show is all 70-200mm f/2.8)
