Hello everyone.
I was sitting by my bird feeder a few minutes ago when this Sharp-Shinned Hawk attacked some Juncos 4 feet in front of my face. The feathers flew but I think he missed. He then landed about 20 feet away and I was able to get a few photos. Which is the better one? Your comments are always welcomed.

i prefer the second one because of the better eye detail, and catchlight.but both are good though

Maz, I'll second the vote for #2. You're fortunate to have had such an opportunity. No branches in the way, good lighting(flash?). I've not had a photo opportunity of any kind with these guys, so I envy you. Nice job.

Second shot; just as above have mentioned; only a tad hot in the chest area.
Nice captures.

The second shot looks best to me also for the reasons stated. The catchlight adds some life to the hawk. Great captures!

Wow, great shot and you must thank yourself for being so lucky to have got that.
I prefer 1 actually, something about #2 isnt quite right, cant put my finger on it. BTW, I think #1 is such a good shot, that by saying #2 is my least favourite of the two by no way puts it down!

Thank you Jeff, Ron, Ted, Stephen, Fee, Stan, Zip, Keith, and Sando for your nice comments. They are much appreciated. The sun was setting here and no flash was used. I did take another one where he was peeking at the Juncos and planning his attack. This was a rare opportunity and I was quite excite about it.

Although the eye looks better in the 2nd one,i think i prefer the 1st,the light seems better for me.

#2 is awesome! I kind of like the moodiness of #3 also.
Great job!
