I'm editing in Photoshop 7, saving as jpeg then sending images to my CP100 attached to my PC via Zoombrowser. (Images were taken with an S50)

However, the printed images don't seem to be as good as the edited images I can see on my screen.

Could Zoombrowser or the CP100 itself be trying to do some image optimization of their own and hence overriding my careful PS7 editing?

Or do I just need to do some screen/printer calibration?
If this is the answer, could someone suggest the best way to carry out the calibration.

You're in for some long nights sorting this out!

There is a whole wealth of information on colour management out there, but I found the following site to be an excellent starting point.

In the end I opted for a Colorvision Spyder to calibrate my monitor and this works extremely well for me.

Printer calibration is another problem, with extra complications such as third party inks and papers.

On my Canon S800 I get very good prints using Canon ink and paper, and fairly good from Ilford Gallerie papers. A lot of experimentation and perseverance will eventually yield good results and a fair deal of satisfaction!
