Mfr # 548101 • B&H # SI247028DGCA So you can do macro or portrature? Does this mean that you could stand one inch from a flower and focus ok? I'm confused. Can the canon 24-70 do macro also?

Thanks.

Answer no!!!

The macro part is a little deceptive. and from the point of a macro purist (I'm not) 1:1 or better is consider true macro. The 24-70 is 1:3.8, the minimum macro which allows Sigma to label it a macro. The minimum focusing distance is 1.3' as state in you link. I don't do macro photo but if you want to be that close you might need a bellow setup or such to get that close.

It's not a substitute for a real macro lens.
