Canon D30 new firmware update?

As rumors go, at least on this one the "thread" is quite short. I heard from someone who heard from the people at Canoga Cameras that Canon will be releasing a new firmware update for the D30 "that will greatly improve the camera".

Any truth to the rumors? Could it be that Canon is aware of the banding issue some D30 users have reported?

This is potentially very exciting news.

There is a new firmware update, not yet posted for dowloading, as mentioned by Canon's Chuck Westfall on the Rob Galbraith D30 Forum. Apparently this update mainly (only?) fixes problems with Remote Capture. Chuck had said he would e-mail the update to anyone interested, but has been swamped with requests. I don't know why they don't just go ahead and post it.
