I felt it best to say it here....

Well I ordered the final lens I felt I needed for my complete lens set (at least until Canon comes up with a FF camera that meets my requirements). Last night I ordered the 70-200/2.8L IS

The set consists of:
16-35/2.8L
28-70/2.8L
70-200/2.8L IS
100-400/4-5.6L IS
50/1.4
28-135/3.5-5.6 IS
75-300/4-5.6 IS

Add in the 1.4 and 2x extenders for more range
and both a 58mm filter set and a 77mm filter set (UV, Polarizer, IR)

I can't think of anything else I could use at this time based on intended uses.

If Canon ever comes up with a FF for under $3000 with at least 10D range of features (preferably 8-9MP) then I will add fisheye and 85/1.2. Until then they are not worth buying as far as I am concerned.

Thanks for letting me crow.

I forgot to add two things.

1. I ain't seen my credit card statement yet.

2. Only $51,400 and the 1200mm left to go :)

Please please leave your lenses to me in your will. Do it soon, I fear that credit card statement may be fatal :)

How about an armored care to carry all that stuff around in?

Well it arrived,
and it passed the cool factor.

- The IS is way better then on any of my other lenses.
- It autofocused with both the 1.4x II and 2x II extenders mounted (both seperately and at the same time, now that impressed me - although it did have to hunt a bit even in bright sunlight)
- The 77mm Hoya R72 IR filter I bought worked great (or at least so far)

- The only catch is I ran out of camera bag :(

- except for those really really long shots, I will probably use it far more frequently then the 100-400.

Something I forgot to mention: despite the fact that it technically weighs in slightly heavier then the 100-400 it feels slightly lighter. I am suspecting better balance, or just the new toy factor at work.

Anyway, very cool lens
Glad I bought it :) :) :)

can you post some photos with the 50/1.4 (I am guessing the USM verson) that will probably be the next lens I buy.

Check Tenba for a new bag. They make great bags.

Hey barnold, all the photos in my gallery (listed in my sig) are with the 50mm 1.4 on a 10D.
