I took this photo a few weeks back. It was a difficult shot because the afternoon sun was blasting through the large windows, but the interior light was still low and required a slow shutter speed. To complicate things, I didn't have my tripod and I was travelling with a group that had little patience for my picture taking.

Anyhow, I've been looking at this photo for a long time and can't decide if I like it or not. I'm not sure if the blurred people look good or are distracting. Also, is the saturation too much? I got a little creative with PS and turned up some colors.

Thanks for any comments.

Ooooh - I like this lots, but I'm maybe not the best person to comment as over-saturation and people moving are two of my favourite things in photos ! :D

I'd maybe clone out the very very wibbly guy on the bottom right corner of the picture, as he's moved just a tad too much, but I wouldn't change anything else at all!

I think this is a great shot and agree that the saturation and moving people work really well (I quite like the wibbly guy!).

The only thing I would change, if possible, is to include a bit more space at the top of the image so that the tops of the windows are not right on the top edge.

One of my first available light photographs was made in Grand Central Terminal back in 1954. I like your image but would have lessened the impact of the bright windows by looking more at the floor area and concentrating on the vibrant movement of the people going to and fro. I would, if I wanted to include the windows, would have shifted to a vertical format and would only allow them to occupy the upper third of the frame.

For fun I am embedding my photograph taken in 1954 using a Kodak Retina IIa camera on Kodachrome film with a speed rating of 10. The camera was supported by one of the balustrades in the terminal and, as you can see, Kodak had its 60 foot wide Colorama on display.

Oh that's fab! Some things haven't changed at all, and you've even got the wibbly guy at the front centre of your pic! :D

RbnDave - I did think I'd like to see the top of the windows as well, but as I can just make out the bottom of a red and white banner/poster(?) I'm guessing that's why you had to frame the shot that way?

You're correct Jenga. I couldn't get the top of the windows in the picture because there was a giant american Flag draped from the ceiling. If I had a wide angle lense, it would have made a great photo with the flag over the station, but I couldn't get all of the flag in my picture so I tried instead to get none of it.

Thanks for the comments everyone. It looks like Grand Central Station hasn't changed much since 1954. nice shot rgorril.

To me the colors seems a little too saturated, but usually I prefer more natural colors, so probably is me and not your picture :)

My own interpretation of the subject. Sorry, but this was taken with a Sony P1 camera in May/2001. Forgive me :)
