Hello –
I currently use a non-digital EOS 1, and rely on a couple of Sigma lenses as my mainstays: a 70-210 mm 1:2.8 AF zoom APO; and a UC 28-70 mm KPR MF lens. I plan to buy an EOS 10D. Does anyone know if these Sigma lenses are compatible with the 10D, and if so, worth using on a 10D, or whether other lens options make more sense. I also need a lens for the lower end, and have seen recent posts about the relative merits of Sigma and Canon lenses covering the 15-30 mm range.
Thanks!

Although all of Sigmas recent manufacture lenses work fine with the 10D,,. the older ones do not. There is an issue with the automatic aperture adjustments that causes the 10D to return an "error 99"
I'm pretty sure that these lenses will not work right off the bat,. but DON"T WRITE THEM OFF! :)
Sigma will rechip the lenses for free.

I have a 17-35 sigma f2.8 and I purchased it December 2002, It works ok but in priority mode or other pre set modes it is washed and somtimes blown out . I have to adjust the shutter speed to get a good shot and or the apeture in a manual setting checking the LCD on the back with histogram to get a good shot.. This happens in sunny daytime shots more thatn other types of shots . This happens at 100 ISO 200 and 400 settings. lI had the same problem with a 28-300 Sigma. I sold that and now use a 28-300 Tamron that is much more compatible and also about a 100 dollars more that the Sigma. This lens is small gives a good range for general shooting. It's nice for a vacation type of all around shootin. Using the Canon 17-35 2.8 I do not have this problem on my 1d or D10. The good thing is when shooting night shots or dusk the Sigma works better and gives some excellent shots letting in a lot of light.

Hi,
My 70-210 f2.8 APO (LOVE IT) is with Sigma now and will be back next week, it did not work and will not work for sure it's too old.
When the rechipping is done it should work without a problem.
I also use a 135-400 f4-5.6 APO Sigma (also a very nice lens) and I got the choice of 2 in the store (bought them second hand) one did not work (err99) one did work.
The new Sigma lenses out of the box almost work immediatly.
Greetings,
Frank

Hello -
Thanks for your insights and suggestions. I'm going to see about getting my Sigma lenses rechipped. From reading other threads, it seems like I should also look into a Canon 28-135 mm lens as well, and perhaps go with a Sigma 15-30 mm for a wide angle lens.

This has to be the zombie thread record!
What is a Sigma KPR? Nevermind. I googled it.
