i'm checking major, "good" sources and just about everyone is sold out.

so, either canon is recalling a bunch of them or they are selling like hotcakes.

even the refurb i saw from bestpriceaudiovideo.com are all gone.

wow!

I think they're "selling like hotcakes."

I base this on a heavy traffic in EOS lenses that I sense everywhere -- new, used and on Ebay. No hard data to back up my statement... but B&H's used EOS lens stock is meager, 3 35-80s for $49 each (yuk) and 1 35-105 for $99.

About a month ago you could have got a 28-135, 75-300, 28-105 and picked from 4 pages of other lenses.

My local camera shop has been selling about 80/week since they came out. Their backlog varies from 2 - 5 weeks.

Outpost.com had some in stock or if you must try Wolf or Ritz.com I know here locally in Las Vegas our Fry's Electronic stores have them in stock and offers a decent exchange warrenty.

The other possibility is Canon is getting ready to release an upgrade in Jan/Feb time-frame and is slowing production in anticipation so they don't have a lot of stock on hand.

Not only are 10D models hard to find (a friend of mine in Seattle is "trying" to buy one), but I can't find anyone that will sell me a 70-200 f4 L lens. Not in Finland, not in Germany ... For a month, all I have been hearing is "September, maybe." However, at a 110% markup, I am in no hurry (the f2.8 costs the same amount in the US as the f4 in Finland).

I have tried to buy from a few places in the US and either they don't have it, or before I can ask if they have it, they inform me on the phone that they do not accept international credit cards. WTF?

I placed an order with Andorama in July - they said they had the lens. When I sent them a mail 5 days later to ask why the lens had not been shipped, they told me "it's back-ordered and we won't have it for three week." Fockers.

I must sound like a broken record: I have complained here about this before!

Anyone want to loan me a piece of lengthy zoom L glass for Saturday?

: )

It is getting desperate in the UK. I was in a the biggest retail chains local shop yesterday and a company in desperate need of digital bodies had bought two D60's to go on with. These were more expensive than 10D but at least you could get them. Another customer was in dispare after ringing the head office and being told he was number 629 on the waiting list.

I bought a 10D in UK yesterday for £1230 :)

With the EOS magazine £200 rebate deal it will cost me £1070 when I get the refund.

( I bought a lens, then sold it back to the shop, at a loss of £40 to qualify for the £200 canon rebate, I never even opened the box on the lens )

So £1230 + £40 loss on the lens = £1270 - £200 rebate = £1070 for a nice new 10D :)

I was on a Jessops waiting list for a month, phoned my nearest branch of London Camera Exchange , and guess what , they had stock !

http://www.lcegroup.co.uk/ don't bother with the website, select a branch, and use the phone !

Mark.

Just bought one today in Dundee's Factory Shop. (UK)£1,299.99 and he says he has a few more.

If you'e interested, give them a call on 01382 226354.

They have an interest free loan plan (9 months I think).
