550 EX misfires

My 550ex will flash all by itself while its attached to my XT. Every once in a while it will either make one small flash or emit a rapid burst of flashes.
Has anyone else had this problem? Or does anyone have any ideas as to what would cause it to do this?

uhhh, that dont sound right if you not pushing anything...

Are you sure you not acciedntly pushing the modeling light? or the FEL button?

If it's fully inserted and tight I don't think that should happen.

I have hit the model light button several times (DOF preview). Scares me half to death.

I was in Calumet the other day and the guy there said that the XT & the 550ex have compatability issues. Nothing is wrong with the flash or camera, they just don't communicate properly.
