nice shots, and your bokeh is looking good! after having the 50 for a while now, ibeen doing test shots comparing to the kit lens bokeh wise. im starting to hate the pentagonal bokeh. but yours seem to come out just right!

Thanks.
I think thats because there are not very shiny objects in the bg.
I bought 50 1.8 to do mostly this type of shooting. So I may suffice me. and comparing the price of 1.8 with 1.4, I could not stop buying 1.8 !

Yummy colour in that red. Good choice of background and light.

Very nice!
The pentagonal background blur does occur mostly when there's highlights in the background. I have one daffodil shot with very weird bokeh. For more even backgrounds or without highlights I think it does fine.

Thanks Carzee, kvdnberg. This was shot in a window light & a reflector on opposite side.
bg is a plain black cloth which I bought for around 4$

great setup! Im all about saving the cash! I built my own little "studio" using a brown box layered with white material...though it didnt work out so well. maybe i will try what you got.

Nice shots & congrats on the new lens swapnali. Bokeh seems smooth here, just be cautious about the situation kvdnberg mentioned. I got some very ugly bokeh in similir conditions earlier. this lens is great for its price but has some limitations too.

One more thing, the plastic plate which has af/mf swtich & connects on barrel is very poorly fit on my lens. Check that out & put a tape if you need to.
Mine came out on top of Mt. Tonotake at 3AM in morning. My numb finger just couldnt fit it back at freezing temperatures :-) I lost my night panorama courtesy this problem :-(

Thanks Sekabin, b.c. & Raj.
I will remember it Raj, as you had told this to me before also. I just couldnt resist myself looking at price.
Yeah I saw your post about this lens, where you mentioned the plate problem.:))
I hope this does not happen with mine:(

Hey one more quest. On my home laptop, and even on the lcd screen of camera, I could see the blue and black blended background for last photo. But now on office laptop, I see only black color. What you all see?

I can see the blue and black. Actually, on this Apple Powerbook I often see blending etc that other people don't.
