View Full Version : Sandisk Ultra II CF card - looking for help

Today I went and filled 2 cards with pictures.

Both cards have been successfully used before.

Instead of downloading straight from the camera, I decided to use the card reader.

The first card downloaded fine. I ejected it (under software control) and inserted the second card.

No images!

I put it back in the camera and it told me it was empty. I looked at formatting it and it showed that it was full.

I tried downloading recovery software but they all want more dollars that the card is worth. One actually found all my pictures and showed me thumbnails of them all - and then told me I had to buy the software to save the full sized pics.

If it comes down to it, I am prepared to erase the card and go back and reshoot the shots I lost.

What I am wondering, though, is:

Has anyone got a link to a free recovery program?

This is for an Ultra II - I know a recovery program comes with the Extreme III - but I don't have one of those.

If you can help, I would be very grateful.

44 pictures found so far and it is at about 24% of the scan.

Here is a crop of one of the recovered pictures - I had been trying for a week to get this fellow - he/she is very shy.

Thanks for the link Warspite, I've added this recovery program to my PC along with a couple of others I have 'Just in case'.

Nice shot. What did you use for the shot, i.e., lens? How far away was he?

That was with the 5D and the Canon 70-200mm @ 195mm f/8 1/125" ISO 1000 and, I suspect, spot metering but I can't see that in the EXIF

Thanks for the comment. I have a few of him peeking through a gap in the leaves - he was about 20 metres away.
