I often walk through there either in the morning or early evening depend on mood enroute to my office or home. I have thought of shooting there but just don't find it interesting enough. I think you covered the main angles. Depending in time it could be worth it ... maybe later in the evening when some of the skateboard kids are around and the light is more spooky. The most interesting aspect for me is the juxtaposition of name and reality ;-) There are probably quite a few good places to shoot within 5 minutes of there.

I shot it because of the contrast between the name and reality! I had spent the day in the city shooting nice sunny stuff and was on my way up to the Flapper and Firkin to sit in the pub garden. I will post some of the 'nice' Brum shots I took later!

hehe - urban city planning at its best - such high hopes, such a low reality..

Kinda sad to see - but thanks for sharing :)

I like your contrasting theme of realities, the lighting could be more interesting though and perhaps converting to b&w would generate more interest. However, sometimes an idea strikes and you have to shoot there and then!
Roger.

I did think about black and white but thought it would be a shame to miss out on the purple. I think I would like to go back when it is busier and catch some people walking through.

I like them, particularly because of the contrast with the name of the place.

You should call this collection "Paradise Lost" (borrowed of course from the John Milton novel of the same name)

I like the role color plays in the composition of the pictures. It really works to move the eye into the photos and highlight important parts of the picture. I like the color in the second and third ones especially, and think the contrast it provides in the fifth is striking.
