On the way home tonight I thought I'd have a quick pop at doing some light trails from cars. This was taken from a raised bank by the side of a dual carrigeway in the town center, so as you can see lots of other light about.

First attempt, not normally my thing. Camera was balanced on a 8' high brick wall with the shutter set on the timer function. EXIF on the pic.

All tips well recieved as I may pop out and have another go later in the week :)

It seems very bright to me still - a lower ISO perhaps?

Thats a lot of light pollution lighting up the sky :/

Nice shot though - urban drivers zooming about at night ;)

You could have a play around with the white balance, i tried this before and playing with the white balance took away the yellow/orange hue and looked great :) If you overdo it you also got a really cool hue to the pic which is out of the ordinary and quite cool.
then again you could have been going for this lighting in which case feel free to ignore me :)

Yep definitely needs a lower iso, I always use 100iso when doing these type of shots.......good light trails though.

nice low ISO = will make for a nice crisp image - definetly get back out there and do more

i like the level of lighting, too bad the light pollution, maybe PS it to darken the sky ?

Thanks for all your input, as it turns out it worked out to be an expensive shot..I arrived back at the car to find I had a punture from a blimmin great screw which wrecked the tyre.

Sinister, that shot was taken in Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, just out of the town center.

This is another shot from the same night, as suggested I did altered it in PS but I think I went too far. If anyone feels like it they are welcome to have a dabble as well :)

The pic is darker but now you've lost a lot of detail in the buildings, it's the iso you need to alter. Then you'll have sharp detail!
