after reading nearly all the posts on the 10d page, i bought one last week. i'm getting used to handling the camera and its capabilities and limitations. i bought the canon 50mm 1.4 and the tamron 90mm 2.8 to go with the canon 28-135 is and 100-300 is i used with my elan 7 and the 2 550ex and ste-transmitter i had. i've loved canon cameras from my first f1 which i still have and use, to my g2 which softened my jump to digital. what i like best about my 10d is the instant feedback. i sometimes get so excited about what i see in the viewfinder that i don't pay enough attention to the info in the lcd, and having that 4 sec review helps me keep my feet on the ground and stay focused. i have almost total control over the image and my goal is to deliver an image that the printer won't need to do a lot of fooling with. there are some images i do best with slide film, some i love to do with my 4x5 and my 10d is just so much fun. after reading your posts and looking at your galleries i just wanted to thank you all for reintroducing me to the joy of photography.

Clearly you are more than a casual user. We look forward to hearing what you're doing, and maybe even seeing some of your work.
Welcome, fellow newcomer.

Perhaps someone else can quote Edison better. He said something like "success requires 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration." NHK (a Japanese TV) this month featured a young artist, who never had any art education, and whose painting is very popular in Japan. This painter said Edison is wrong. It should be 1% inspiration and 99% fun. You are a good example.

I couldn't agree more with 99% fun part. I started about 5 or 6 years ago with and olympus point and shoot digital and then moved into a olympus 2000 then a 2500L slr fixed lens which cost as much as the 10D body now when I purchased it. I have a Mimyia 645 that I rarely use now. The work flow is fast fun and furious. The results are great and the self gratifcation is almost instantanious, My camera has provided me with a a hobby recoups some of the money That I spend on it. It has made me many new freinds. I have gone places that I would have never gotten to and it even got me a free trio to Az to take photos. so enjoy go out shoot shoot then shoot some more
