I'm from the UK. Shortly I will be visiting France/ Spain / Portugal and I have a multimedia card in my digital camera. I often transfer my pictures from my media card to my home pc and then onto CD ROM, however, whilst abroad. I do not have the facilities of a computer.
Are there many places (if any) in France/ Spain/ Portugal who will transfer my images to CD ROM?
I was thinking of buying another media card, but if I can transfer my pictures and then re-use my media card, this expense would not be so necessary.
Please help. It's the first time I've used my digital camera abroad.

I'll be travelling to Italy soon and anticipate the same problem. I've heard that 'internet cafes' are plentiful and most offer media card readers and the capability to burn to cd. However, not knowing this for sure I plan to purchase a few extra cf cards since they are now so inexpensive. I recently purchased a simpletech 512mb card for $70 (after a $30 mail-in rebate). Good luck and have a good trip.

I'd assume that, like here, most camera shops offer the service, and are plentiful in the big cities. However, if you look at the prices they charge here (£7 per CD seems pretty common) it might be as economical to buy an extra memory card. Or perhaps a combination of the two. If you have two cards you can wait till they're both full to transfer them onto CD, and it'll still cost the same £7 (or whatever), so you'll have half the CD transferring costs for the same amount of photos.

I would opt for the purchase of an extra card or two, rather than spending valuable vacation hours hoofing around looking for a cyber cafe. I found them relatively easily in London; but, didn't see a single one in Paris when I was there last fall.
I judicially deleted the photos that appeared to be failures and I did fine with 4 128-MB cards. I also ratcheted the file size down when I was taking silly photos that I knew would be only for web use.
Do you by chance have a friend that uses the same type of media? I loaned a couple of mine to a friend who went to Alaska recently--it worked out great.
Have a greaaaat time!
