I thought that such a topic could help undecided 10D-curious people, whether to buy it or not. I would've certainly relied on a poll before I bought the 10D myself..
Here it goes:
82.61% are happy with the 10D's focus. (19 10D's)
17.39% are not. This number represents 4 10D's.
THESE FIGURES ONLY REPRESENT PEOPLE WHO RESPONDED TO THE POLL. THINK OF THIS POLL AS FOR 'CURIOSITY' REASONS IF YOU WILL. IT IS REALLY NOT WORTH ANYTHING MORE!
Now let's get back to shooting!
I'll edit this post if more people respond to the original 'Where's the love' post, found here:

Thanks to all.

I have the 2 10D's and believe its not user error. I've tested both of them and they are both off. I have pictures to prove it. I am a veteran of over 30 years of professional photography and user error is not a factor. I make mistakes in photography but rarely with focus. Almost never with my 1n but the 10D's are frequently out of focus so these should be 2 negative votes. I use L lenses so I use top quality glass.

Cubfan, do not take it personally.
Any research or survey has to be done impersonally, and not knowing you personally, a researcher has to take into account user errors. Even if he knew you had a lot of experience, he needs to be impersonal to be objective. If not objective, why bother to do any survey?

I will change the results later on today, and will count you in as 2 separate -ve votes. I kind of did that in the beginning, but decided not to later, because I had no idea what your experience level was.
At the same time, please keep in mind that I did not mean to isolate you or call you inexperienced, I was just trying to be as fair as possible..(just like 'lightandlife' said above).
Thank you very much for your input.

I don't think the poll is accurate because if you are like
me and have a bad 10D (going back and forth with Canon trying to get it fixed) I don't post complaints any more because i'm tired of getting BASHED every time I post my problem with my camera.....
At least I'm getting to know the Canon people personally.
Good luck, Rod

The poll is accurate if you had responded to it. You haven't. Cubfan who has two bad 10D's, was the only one with -ve feedback by the time I made the results. I didn't say that everybody in the world responded to that poll..It is too early anyway to have posted a result for the poll, but I was trying to get as many people as possible to respond to it, so that we can have an insde idea on at least how many people are having problems.
Good luck on your camera.

Ok, thanks. I'll eventually post my "story" if and when I get my camera working. It's on its way to Canon for the second time right now. A "Manager" at Canon in Irvine, Ca has promissed me he will fix it himself and get it back to me by next Friday. I believe him, he sounded sincere. We will see.
My advice to buyers;
Buy the 10D at a store (not over the mail) and check it out with one of your best lenses and make sure it takes "In Focus" shots BEFORE you pay for it. Bring a laptop and upload the pics and see before you buy that it doesn't have an obvious problem.
It's worth the effort!
Good luck, Rod

The poll is accurate, in that the responses were correctly reported, but utterly worthless as an indication of overall satisfaction with the 10D, or as an indication of what percent of 10d cameras have a focus problem.
As rodbun pointed out, too many people on this forum are eager to flame anyone who reports a problem, thus discouraging such reports, and creating a severe bias in the poll. Then there's the fact that only people who happen to view the forum while the poll message is shown will even consider responding. Many, perhaps most, of those will consider it best not to respond.
If you have a "conduct a poll" checkbox on your decision matrix, then by all means check it off. If you really want a good idea about the state of quality of the 10D then you have to work a little harder.
On a personal note, since my wife gave me a D60 for Christmas, I would not consider replacing it any time soon (some decisions really are easy); but if I were considering a 10D I would be very nervous about the intense pressure that is currently being brought to bear to supress any complaints about the camera. It seems to me that clear and objective information is just not allowed to emerge. Like I say, that would make me nervous, and give me pause when deciding to purchase or not.

I doubt we will ever get the real numbers from Canon, and proabably won't even get them to admit there's been a problem. A survey done in this manner has little value more than to possibly identify a trend, and to help inform interested people that there is a perceived problem among some 10D owners.
I would suggest for your consideration, however, that the problem may be somewhat exaggerated by the fact that the vast majority of contented users will not find any need to comment if their camera is functioning properly. This is not to say that the folks with the problems are overstating their case; it's just that their frustration is more likely to bring them to a forum such as this where they can 'vent.'
I hope everyone who faces the focusing issue finds resolution to their difficulty. The camera really is a delight when it's functioning to spec.

rodbunn: BTW, I already took your vote for two bad 10D's in the updated poll results...
