Canon sez their Digitals have a 6 volt maximum input for the PC flash connector....that means if you are using an older powerpak that has a higher trigger voltage you may burn out the PC connector. The Manual sez may not fire. Beware you should only use a wein safe hot shoe to avoid problems. Just because the camera is working OK with the powerpak doesn't mean you're out of the woods. Confirm your voltage. It may fail later on after the continued abuse. If you are using a powerpak to the PC and you get an error 99.......and the camera works with it unplugged you may have already caused damage. Canon tech sez to remove both batteries to reset. If it works you just lost one of your camera's nine lives. Those most likely to have this problem are owners of older powerpaks....i.e. NORMAN 2000 at 9 trigger volts. Newer units tout regulators but would not risk it...use the hotshoe with protection
