These planes are the only C-130 planes in the country that are equipped with skis. They are the trasport planes used to go to antarctica(in aid of the National Science Foundation). They are based out of Stratton ANG which is in Glenville, NY.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that these planes the 109th Airlift Wing

Sadly I could not get very close so this is heavily cropped.

The Red dot is where the planes are, and the blue dot is where I stood to take the shot.

I think the 70-200 did just fine. I have never seen such big planes with skies on before. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the comments guys. I tried a different crop and left it in color.

Well if anyone ever needs a reason for the 70-200 f4 I think you have just provided it:)

Great shot, look totally different to what I expected in colour with those bright luminant tails:)

I like your colour option better. 70-200 is indeed impressive.

seeing as its bumped, I think the colour one is better, simply because in this case the effect is lost with B&W (IMO)
