Camera: 350D Kiss N (Japanese version of Rebel)
Lens: Tamron 28-200 Super XR

Here it is, for better or worse. Comments welcomed... By the way, I resized smaller to make it manageable for here and seemed to have lost some clarity. Is that normal?

Edit: Following some advice below I have posted my SECOND shot. It is framed a little better perhaps and I lightened it up on Arcsoft Photostudio.

It was a really cloudy day and I was on full Auto mode.

Thanks for all the great tips and advice. I can't wait to get shootin'.

Congrats, you have been biten by the canon bug. lol :)

This exposure looks a bit soft, maybe a tripod would help or possibly some better glass, or both depending on your current setup.

Welcome to the forums. :) Comment-wise, you've made use of the archway to frame your shot, but a little bit more of the arch would have made the framing a stronger aspect of the photo. I would have been tempted to take the photo more to the right so as to miss the mirror and provide more focus onto the building, its signs, and the tree in bloom.

nice first shot! my first shot was blurry and faded reallllly bad. You will certainly progress as you learn the cameras capabilities. Congrats!

I agree with John's comments about the arch. Resizing can lead to softening problems (I deleted one of my posts recently because of it). Welcome to POTN, Kayakorea!
