Hello, and good day. I am waiting on a Calumet 2250 kit, and am doing alot of preperation for my soon to be studio.

The question I have is this: My studio is 10'1" H 9'4" W 20' D. In the center of the celing is a hanging white 12" globe light fixture. Should I get a 5000k bulb for this globe, as it is the only source of light in the room. The modeling lights on the 3 Travelite 750's are 250w but may not light the room sufficiantly to roam around in. There are also two large vertical windows that I am planning on covering with dark material, and positioning the background infront of. Negating any sunlight. A different celing fixture wouldn't be possible, but floor lamps are. I could unscrew the entire globe as to not visually impare my photos, but after testing, the light won't affect most shots.

I am going to be doing product photography and some portrature.

The 5000k bulbs I see on ebay are here:

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ian

Makes no difference, strobes are so powerful the light put out by the ceiling lamp is irrelevant. It could be blue or red and it wouldn't make a bit of difference.

I personally have inexpensive 60watt "daylight balanced" bulbs in my "studio". I find the color much more pleasing to work under.
Tim is right that the light from the strobe is going to over power what ever light you have for ambient light.
