I couldnt wait for the 300D to come out, so I treated myself to the 10D. I figured what is a few more hundred dollars to get something that is tried and tested and more sturdier than the 300D. So, I a reading the manual and readying myself for a weekend of photo shooting.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a book to learn the in's and out's, do's and don'ts and when and not to use things. I have been an ametuer photographer for a few years. I started out with a $100 Pentax digital camera back in 1995. It was not even 1 MB of pixels. I then went to the Olympus 500L to the 600L to the 620L. Then I switched the Nikon 950 to the 990. I still have my 990 because it is a great camera. But I did upgrade that to a Canon G3 which is currently for sale on ebay an in the marketplace. I only had it for 8 months before I got my 10d yesterday. So now I am ready to photograph the world. Help a newbie out!

The book is pretty good @ explaining the operation of the camera. It also operates pretty much like a normal SLR film camera. In my case I use AV mode on most everything I shoot f/4-f/8 with the exception of fast moving objects then TV mode @ 250 or higher. I adjust the parameters to Adobe RGB and center weighted metering. Pretty much just play & shoot make sure your color profiles are matching between monitor & printer. Have fun & good luck.

Fatizzi,.

Damn man you were on the bleeding edge owning those Olympus Digitals,.. those were absolutely the best camera's out at the time,. way ahead of the rest of the pack. I bet the 10D cost the same as the C600 did when it first came out?

I went form an Olympus C2100UZ to the 10D and although the 10D has a lot more options,. and more importantly,. all the settings are easier to manipulate,. the switch was in fact very straight forward. The 10D is easier to learn on in the long run as the options and setting tend to not be buried deep in menus like with the Olympusus,.. instead you can just turn a dial! :)

Not the C600. I had the original 600DL. The one with the long snout

Opps sorry for the late reply, work... have to pay for the toys. Yes the owners manual is pretty informative. I'm aware that Lantern's usaully pulbish 3rd party books but I have not seen anything for the digital SLRs.
