Hi,
I got an IXUS 300. I noticed that when I take a picture and look through the optical view, not the LCD display, the picture has a slight tilt of about 10 %.
I look through the viewer for taken shooting landscapes on a sunny day, when I can't see much on the display.
Has anyone noticed the same problem?

This is inevitable with any camera that doesn't have a through the lens viewfinder.

The optical view finder should not tilt the image.
The only problem you should experience is that close ups the point of view is different then that of the lens, the finder picture size may not correlate correctly to the image size, the finder does not change focus, and maybe there is dust inside of it.
But it should not tilt the horizon. It should remain flat no matter what.

I think the problem is that the camera has a tilted sensor.
And no, it isn’t inevitable the parallax error of the viewfinder doesn’t mess with straight horizontal or vertical lines.
While the viewfinder is aligned with the camera body, the sensor inside is tilted.
To prove my point do this: take a shot of your camera in a flat surface in front of a mirror, flash of ; ) and the camera body paralel to it. If the image of this camera 'self-portrait' is straight so the viewfinder is tilted, if not, you already now the answer - it’s the sensor inside.
I advise everyone to test yours cameras to be prevented.

If the CCD itself is seated wrong (tilted) looking at the LCD will correct the tilt but looking through the viewfinder will not correct for it (as you have no feedback to the tilt), thus you get a tilt when looking through the finder.
Such a tilt in the CCD will show up while looking at the LCD while the camera is turned on and resting on a counter top or table. The image in the LCD will be tilted.
This is calling for a return trip to the store asap and get that camera replaced (or repaired depending on when you purchased it and the return policy of the store.)

I found this at dpreview
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canons50/page13.asp
(go to the bottom of the page)
and the answer they got from canon was unpleasant.
I'm curious if others, like Ikinaa and me, have the same problem?
