There was a time when there were three burrowing owls that occupied the nest on a vacant lot which was near our home. After Hurricane Charley swept through the area in 2004, the nest was quiet....until now!!! There is now a new occupant that I noticed on his perch. He is also a vocal one. He can be heard at night making alot of noise, he drives my little dog (toy fox terrier, wants a piece of the small bird) crazy as we walk by the nest. As of now, I have only noticed him, and he is not shy. Well here he/she is.

I love the way how its soo sharp. Looks like hes got his eye on something though lol. What settings did you use to get such wonderful results?

They were both shot with 20, 100-400L ISO=200, 1/1250sec@ F6.3

The shot was taken about 15 feet from the owl, with the lens zoom @ 400mm...the close distance to the subject and long focal length and the f6.3 caused the background blur.

These are such beautiful owls. We get them in the western/prairie provinces but thats a 2 day drive . Great images here Keith. I love them both!
