This is the first time I shot rugby of any kind. It's a great sport upclose. I had a good time shooting it. I'm still fuzzy on what they best angles are, but I got a couple decent shots.

#1 is soft, and the other 2 are OOF, but everything else looks really good

great job of capturing their emotions

Hey Don,
Ain't rugby a blast!!
OK for the ones you posted on this page. The first two need to be cropped. Get rid of the dead space on the top of the photos to help bring out the action/moment better. The third one is out of focus. My eye goes to the ball carrier and he's soft. Don't post something like this.

For your link, the first photo on the page, that is a great shot! Crop the photo to the two players. It's a nice peak moment. Scrolling thru the rest of the gallery, there is a lot of photos where there are backs to the viewer, no faces, no ball. Edit those out. Overall as well, there are lots of photos for the viewer to look at. Tighter up the gallery. Give us your best photos. If you are posting them for players to look at or buy, that would be a different story. Coming from my view, I'd like to see a tighter presentation/edit. Give us peak action and tightly cropped photos. Just my opinion...

I just shot some rugby in Pembroke, NH last Sat. and had a great time:http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=159820

If you're looking for some other good shots try getting some of line-outs and maybe some close ups underneath the scrums and kick-offs. I played high school rugby and those are always good places to capture emotion on the players' faces. I'm glad rugby is gaining more of a following here in the US!

I've never seen it live...one game and I'm hooked. It's action packed. Love it!
