Just a little Immature Mistletoebird that was very interested in me while I was shooting and wondering about. It came so close that I couldn't even get the shots a few times (didn't have the macro on me)

Beautiful shots...and the coloring is great...kind of a pastel. The last one looks like he's waving at you...lol. As always your pics are wonderful!

The mistletoe bird? Yet another one I have never heard of. I noticed a little patch of red in the breast. Is this color coming in or perhaps its fading as I believe it is the fall in Australia.....nice shots with my favouirite being the second for the very sharp eye and wing stretch.

Awwww....... how cute! And a very sweet name too.:D Very nice captures Wayne. Hopefully it hangs around and let you document its growth.
I suppose you should also kiss the person next to you whenever a mistletoe bird flies over.

Thanks for the kind comments and glad you all like them. Quite amazing little birds that will mimick just about anything.
Gary, it's colours are just starting to come in as it comes into it's adult plumage. Heres what the adult male looks like.

Whoa, what a neat series of catches. What does the mistletoe bird do? Why is it called "mistletoe"?

They are widespread everywhere in Australia and found anywhere mistletoe will grow (almost anywhere, even deserts). They do eat other fruit and small insects, their digestive system in their stomache is suplemented by a duct which allows it to pass large amounts of berries in a fairly short time.

Fabulous shots Mitcon. They look nothing like the Mistletoe Thrush we get in the UK.

The first two are almost as fluffy as 'day old chicks', but the adult is possitively stunning.
Three beautiful pictures.
