spent my lunch hour chasing this chap amongst the Red Dead Nettles. Not at all cooperative and a patrolling Flower Bee didnt help (nice to have got a chase shot). Nonetheless managed a small % of decent takes with the 60mm and diffused flash on 350D:

All good shots RM, and it sounds really difficult to do, thats why i wont be attempting it :D ...

certainly tricky, I guess the longer you stick at it the better you begin to judge where to prefocus. One thing is sure I wouldn't bother if I was using film as there was only about a 10% success rate if that.

Good captures Racketman- you have more patience than I do.
Think I actually prefer the second of your near misses- almost looks like a bee-fly with it's proboscis already out like that. :)

taking my Sigma 105 to work today so hope for better shots of this type, having to get close disturbed the Bee too often.
